Trigun anime review.
The time: The distant future. The place: A desolate planet. The crime: The destruction of the city of July. The bounty: 60 Billion Double Dollars. The outlaw: Vash the Stampede. Wanted: Dead or Alive. The story of Trigun by Yasuhiro Nightow released in 2000 follows Meryl Stryfe and Milly Thompson, two agents sent by the Bernadelli Insurance Agency to keep Vash under surveillance to insure he doesn’t cause further damage. To their suprise, Vash the Stampede is a tall, spikey blonde haired, donut loving, pacifist who cares more about the lives of others than his own safety. How can this be the same notorious legendary outlaw gunman? As Milly and Meryl follow Vash from settlement to settlement they soon realize that most of the damage being caused is from the people trying to claim the 60 billion double dollar reward for his capture. Along the journey they befriend an unorthodox preacher named Nicholas D. Wolfwood. He carries a large heavy cross, which is actually a mini armory, where ever he goes. Much like Vash, Wolfwood has an eye for women, loves children and is an excellent gunman. Their paths cross many times as they journey along protecting the innocent. Everyone that comes into contact with Vash is changed forever by his compassion and motto: “This world is made of love and peace!”. It is not long until Vash’s dark and painful past starts to catch up with him. Running from his past Vash soon need to deal with the memories of Project SEEDS, a mysterious woman named Rem who has been haunting his dreams and a rival who has finally found him, Knives. Not after Vash for the bounty, Knives and his gang of assassins, the Gung-Ho Guns under the leadership of Legato Bluesummers, hunt for the legendary gunman for their own agenda. The only hope for the survival of man is Vash the Stampede.
