Shopping in New York City - The Essential Guide on Where to Find Designer Labels at Discount Prices

This guide is designed to show you where to shop in New York for great Designer labels at discount prices , as well as tips on how to get around New York City from two experienced girls just passionate about shopping.

New York is one of the world’s greatest cities. When you are planning a shopping trip to New York City you must organize your time well, as there are so many fantastic shops and sights to see.

We would like to share our shopping trip tips with you. This is our plan for our routes to our favourite shops.

Our first day…6.30 am raring to go shopping!

We headed off to Fantastic 5th Avenue, also referred to as the “Miracle Mile” which is the shopping Mecca in New York City. All the best (and most expensive) stores are located along this Street. This is where you can pick up the latest trends and ideas. It can be pretty hectic but is fun to mingle with the crowd. After a much needed cup of coffee and lunch, which was rather late as there is so much to see…we decided to stop off at Bloomingdales… lucky it’s open weeknights until 8.30 pm. Bloomingdales is one of the major department stores in New York. Here you will find all of the well known designer labels, some of which are at discount prices.

Day 2…7 am …tired feet

At breakfast we planned our day’s itinerary for another shopping extravaganza …after all it is hard work shopping and we needed all of our strength. We decided to go back to Manhattan to check out 57th street where we found there is a plethora of boutiques. After shopping till we dropped we decided to have a long lazy lunch with a few…wines and tasted some of New York’s delicious treats. The only reason being is Macy’s Store is open during the week until 10 pm! How fab is that for a shopper in heaven. Macy’s is a huge department store. It is so big that it is a must see tourist attraction when you are in New York. This store stocks a huge range of everything from shoes, bags, jewelry and of course beautiful clothes!!!

Day 3 already!…8 am…still had time for breakfast

Can you believe it last night we met some rather nice New Yorker’s who told us a secret which happens to be … check out Century 21…which is another brilliant department store where you can find some of the best bargains in the city with 15 departments of top quality and designer merchandise at 40% to 70% off retail prices!

In the afternoon after more New York delis and the usual drinks we jumped on local transport and headed to the Lower East Side in search of more bargains. Between Orchard and Delancey streets we found little intimate boutiques that feature local designers as well as trendy new and vintage pieces that you can’t find anywhere else. It was certainly worth going as we found some great local designer merchandise. After another hard days shopping we returned to our hotel washed and changed into our new clothes and headed out for a spot of night life, which ended up to be a great night… New Yorkers are so friendly and so much fun.

Last day…9.30…Well we did promise ourselves some recuperating time as the blisters on our feet were starting to hurt….(Big Tip! Do carry sensible shoes). We kept our promise no shopping that day but we couldn’t resist the Sex in The City tour, that’s another story!!
