A sample submission USPTO Apple may consider its own games console
Gaming is big business with a few game titles bringing in more money than Hollywood blockbuster films. Traditionally the market for games is dominated by console game systems from Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo. However, that could be changing.
An application filed by Apple with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has changed the brand Apple to cover the game systems. The application is very short on information and simply adds a list of new items to the coverage of the mark.
The application further states that the trademark:
Games, toys, ie units hand to play electronic games, handheld units of video games; unique video game machines, electronic games other than those adapted for use with television receivers only; LCD machines game; educational electronic game machines, toys, ie batteries computer games
This could mean that in the future might be adding a video game system from Apple to the list of game consoles around. From the sounds of the application could also see a portable game system from Apple as well.
The amended application was filed on February 8, 2008 by Apple, a lawyer has not yet been assigned to the case. That it is not just a section of the new Apple articles might want to sell in the future, no other information is available at this time.
Apple refused to comment on the request, but representatives of the company showed enthusiasm with regard to the trademark application.
