AT & T low-cost HSPA adds to its line card

AT & T new HSPA available for ExpressCard cards and PC Card slots

Wireless access to the Internet has quickly become a requirement for mobile business types that need to be productive outside the office. Fortunately large providers such as AT & T are developing faster mobile access to the Internet with speeds of broadband.

To help consumers take advantage of these speeds AT & T announced today that it is adding two new HSPA cards to its line of laptops. Option Ultra GT and GT Express Option Ultra are virtually identical, with the main difference to support different cards buses.

Option Ultra GT is designed to be used in laptops that use Type II PC Card slots and uses a retractable antenna. Option GT Express Ultra for notebooks using the new ExpressCard slots 34mm and uses a flip-up antenna.

Both cards operate on the same technology tri-band support UMTS / HSPA in 850/1900/2100MHz and GPRS / EDGE 850/900/1800/1900MHz on. Supporting frequencies for the new LaptopConnect cards enable users to access the Internet in more than 140 countries, including Japan and Korea.

Both cards allow access to AT & T BroadbandConnect wireless network with download speeds of 600 kbps and 1400 kbps. Upload speeds on the network ranging from 500 Kbps to 800 Kbps. The new laptop cards are compatible with Windows Vista, XP, 2000 and Mac OS X 10.4.10 and thereafter. To use the card on a Mac requires an additional free download.

Option Ultra GT and Ultra GT Express will be available for $ 49.99 after a mail-in rebate and a two-year contract DataConnect at least $ 60 per month. AT & T said that starting February 15 both devices are free after another discount rate and the data plan for a limited time.
