Group promoting HD DVD offers little resistance to the latest victories Blu-ray
The HD DVD promotion group suffered two crippling blows yesterday. Early Monday morning, Netflix announced it would become exclusive Blu-ray line with respect to high-definition movies for rent.
Monday afternoon, Best Buy announced that, while not entirely fall HD DVD, which put more emphasis on Blu-ray and heavily promote this rule.
“Consumers have told us they want us to help pave the way. We listened to our customers, and we are responding. Recommend Best Buy Blu-ray as the format of choice,” said Best Buy President and Chief Financial Officer Brian Dunn.
The HD DVD group advocacy of course was not very happy to hear about the latest loss in the format war and offered to present no judgments response:
We have long held the belief that the HD DVD format is the best for consumers on the basis of quality and value, and more than 1 million HD DVD players in the market, it is regrettable to see Netflix take the decision to only stock Blu-ray titles will Forward. While the announcement of Best Buy says they will recommend Blu-ray, at least they should continue to carry HD DVD and offer consumers a choice retail.
Perhaps the HD DVD promotion group has no fight left. Toshiba and went to great efforts to reduce the prices of its third generation of DVD players, but that obviously was not enough to stop the move to Blu-ray. Toshiba HD DVD commercial during the Super Bowl also did not help to win over new supporters.
But can that consumers can take solace in the fact that things may finally be ending in the HD DVD versus Blu-ray battle. Studio fervently support is lining up behind Blu-ray, so the days of finding a movie in HD DVD, but not in the Blu-ray, it may be sooner.
The first to adopt the HD DVD standard, although perhaps only stay with their current HD DVD an excellent library and scaling DVD player.
