U.S. Video Game Sales Increase 31 Percent in June

This is news from United State. In June, sales of video game hardware and software increase 31 percent (from a year ago). The increasing is driven by stronger demand for gaming consoles from all three major industry players. That three major industry are Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony.

Compared with May, June sales of $1.1 billion increase 35 percent. The most popular hardware in U.S. are Sony’s PlayStation 3, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Nintendo’s Wii.

The rankings for hardware sales unchanged from recent months, Nintendo Wii retaining its top spot with 381,800 units sold with the $250 for its price. The sales increase 13 percent more than the previous month.

Microsoft with Xbox console sold 198,400 Xbox 360s, a jump of 28 percent from May, while Sony sold 98,500 PlayStation 3 units, up more than 20 percent than previous month.

Sony said PS3 sales at its five largest retailers had soared 135 percent in the last two weeks of July.

Now for software sales, Nintendo has six titles from the top 10 games for June. Microsoft’s Xbox 360 only has three games in the top 10.
